Because it has peacock imagery and it's good art
"We Do Not Dream Alone" at the Asia Society features contemporary art from various Asian artists. This multi-venue exhibition includes an installation titled "Follow Your Heart Wholeheartedly, 2020" by Anne Samat. An artist from Malaysia, Samat used common household items to compose a 'family', whose mother and father figures bear crowns of peacock feathers (see photo).
This inaugural Triennial is definitely worth a visit, with an above-average percentage of thoughtful and beautiful pieces. The Asia Society museum is not huge, and reserved entry is timed with capacity limits for each room to maintain safe distancing. Tickets are free, and the show runs through June 27, 2021.
During these times, museums have become place we can go where distancing practices are enforced yet there is a kind of intimacy through engagement with the esthetic and emotional power of art and artifact. Definitely a respite from the same old four walls.
