"Star Trek: Discovery" and the start of my annual holiday music binge. Star Trek is a respite for these times by portraying a future of informed humanism. Holiday music because I like Handel, Vince Guraldi, Ella F. and Diana Krall, Puccini, and the movie "Elf" is a family favorite. But I can only take so much of it, so I stop on Jan. 1.
